Eagles Step up in FIFA Ranking

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have climbed two steps and are in seventh position in Africa and 43rd in the world with 681 points, according to the latest world ranking released by FIFA yesterday.

The Super Eagles, previously ninth in Africa and 45th in the world, moved above Guinea and Congo to improve from last month’s ranking.
Algeria is the new number one nation in Africa after pushing off 2015 Africa Cup of Nations winners Cote d’Ivoire who have slipped to second.

The top ten African sides are Algeria, Ivory Coast, Tunisia, Ghana, Senegal, Cape Verde, Nigeria, Guinea, Congo and Cameroun.
World champions Germany are still top of the pile in the world with 1,775 points followed by European powerhouse Belgium and Argentina, runners-up at the last Mundial, in second and third places respectively.
