Borussia Dortmund to appoint Thomas Tuchel

Eight-time German champions Borussia Dortmund have appointed Thomas Tuchel as their new head coach from 1 July 2015, with the 41-year-old putting pen to paper on a three-year contract.

The club will officially unveil the new coach in the week that follows the end of the season and it is hoped the public will understand that none of the parties involved will address the matter until then.

Clyne issues Manchester United 'come-and-get-me' plea

Southampton defender Nathaniel Clyne has told Manchester United that he wants to join them in the summer.

The England full-back is currently in talks over a new long-term deal with the Saints, although the club have acknowledged the strong interest from elsewhere.

Goal exclusively revealed back in February that United had stepped up their pursuit of the former Crystal Palace star, with Louis van Gaal's side willing to offer out-of-favour striker Javier Hernandez in exchange.

Man Trekking For Buhari Gets Mouth-Watering Offer

Remember the famous man who is trekking all the way from Abuja to Lagos in a bid to fulfill the promise he made if Muhammadu Buhari won the 2015 presidential election? Well! He’s in the news again.

The native of Katsina state who was earlier seen in Niger state, is gaining more popularity, and of course more blessings.

It has been reported by Daily Trust that an Abuja businessman has paid N550,000 to cover one week’s accommodation and food for Suleman Hashimu at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja ahead of his arrival.
Hashimu, 33, who is on a solo trek from Lagos to Abuja to mark General Muhammadu Buhari’s electoral victory, arrived at Lapai in Niger state and is expected to proceed to Lambata town en route to Abuja today. He lodged at the Lapai palace and had to pass two nights there to treat injuries to his legs caused by the long trek from Lagos. The Katsina native, who started the trek about 13 days ago, was given a royal welcome in Bida and Agaie towns in Niger State as a crowd of admirers, including the emir of Agaie, Alhaji Yusuf Nuhu, gave the traveller a warm reception in his palace.

When asked why he had embarked on such a mission, Suleiman said he wanted to fulfil a promise he made two years ago.

“I made the promise for this mission to show my love for the leader of the masses, General Muhammadu Buhari, and for the 13-day journey I have embarked upon, I have condemned five pairs of canvass shoes.”

“I made adequate financial provisions for cross-country trek, but since my journey started, I haven’t spent anything from the money since I’ve been warmly welcomed in every town or village I’ve had passed”, he added.

Hasheem, who is on a record breaking mission, is, however, not aware if Buhari knows of him but with his mission aimed at getting to Abuja before May 29 to celebrate with the new president at his inauguration ceremony, there are high chances of Hasheem meeting with the president-elect.

Buhari was announced as the president-elect of Nigeria on April 1.

He has become the first opposition aspirant to win a presidential poll in the country.

Real Madrid reeling as Modric ruled out for six weeks

Real Madrid have been rocked by the news that Luka Modric will miss the rest of their Liga campaign after being ruled out of action for six weeks.

The midfielder hobbled off 60 minutes into Saturday's Primera Division clash with Malaga at the Santiago Bernabeu and the capital club subsequently revealed that he had sprained a ligament in his right knee.

PFAs invest a huge sum of N172.4bn in state securities

A total of N172.4bn was invested in state securities under the Contributory Pension Scheme in the 2014 financial period.
Figures obtained from the National Pension Commission on Friday, which confirmed this, also showed that the total assets under the CPS stood at N4.6tn at the end of 2014.
The commission had said the pension funds could only be invested in the bonds of state governments that were in compliance with the CPS.
At the end of the 2014 financial year, the commission noted that about 24 states had adopted the CPS, while 12 others were at various stages of implementing the scheme and one state yet to commence the process.
Lagos State, which was the first to drop the old pension scheme for the CPS, has already commenced the process of amending its Pension Reform Law 2007 following the amendment of the National Pension Reform Act.
PenCom introduced some guidelines for the Pension Fund Administrators for the registration of state and local government employees to enable them to adopt suitable structure for the implementation of the CPS.
One of the objectives of the guidelines was to ensure complete coverage of the states within a short time.
In the guidelines, the law gave concession to state and local governments to implement the structured approach for the registration of their employees.
These levels of government are expected to select their preferred Pension Fund Administrators and allocate some Ministries, Departments and Agencies to each, while the employees are free to register with any of the selected PFAs.
The Chairman, Pension Funds Operators Association of Nigeria, Mr. Misbahu Yola, said there were certain safety criteria to be considered before the funds could be invested.
He said despite the lull in the economy and its visible challenges, the pension assets had remained safe and well protected.
The operators, he stressed, had not lost any money.
According to him, the operators have remained conservative with the investment of the funds because the market environment has not been stable.
This situation, Yola said, required the operators to be careful with any investment.
He said safety and liquidity were two major things the operators had to consider before going into any investment.
Yola said one fundamental thing about the investment guidelines for the increasing pension assets was the introduction of a multi-fund.
According to him, there is a proposal for at least four types of funds, which are aggressive, conservative, balance and retiree funds.
Yola said the proposal was to fix the investment funds with the age of the contributors.
He explained that the conservative fund would allow for investment in classes of business with very little risks and this would be suitable for contributors within the ages of 50 to 59 before their retirement.
The balance, he said, would be appropriate for 49 year-old contributors and below.
According to him, the aggressive fund is for young people and those who have about 20 to 30 years to retire. Such funds, he added, could be invested in more risky areas.

CYNTHIA MORGAN---- "I'VE A N12M WORTH WRIST-WATCH

Background
My name is Cynthia Morgan and I am 23 years old. I am a musician and I was raised by a single mother, Sherifat Morgan She is a gospel artiste based in Benin City, Edo State. I had a beautiful childhood where my mum was firm yet loving; she played the role of a father to my siblings and I. She is my biggest fan. I haven’t completed my university education. I took a break to concentrate on my musical career.
Calling
Music for me began at the age of seven. I started in the children’s choir, after which I moved to the youth choir and later joined the Christian Union choir. I began putting out music at the age of 16 and I recorded a six -track demo album. I released my debut single with General Pype titled ‘Dotty Stepping’ at the age of 17. In 2012, I met Jude Okoye in Atlanta; he appreciated my talent, took an interest in my career and signed me to his label, Northside INC.
Gospel music
My mum is a gospel artiste, so she obviously understands my craft. Many expected me to become a gospel artiste like my mum but that isn’t possible because that is not my calling. She appreciates my style of music and is my greatest fan. A lot of people do not know that I have an alter ego which is the cool-headed Cynthia Morgan.
Queen Ure and I
I do not have much to say about her; she wanted relevance and I gave it to her. I am actually very glad I was able to help her because I gave her more followers and exposure. She rode on my fame to make a name for herself. How could she claim to own a song that doesn’t exist on the Internet?
Complexion
People who complain about my skin tone are clearly those who do not know me very well. I did not bleach my skin and one thing they fail to understand is that you can’t remain the same forever. The only constant thing in life is change and I have grown into a beautiful young woman.
Nudity
I am a proud, beautiful Nigerian lady who is comfortable in her own skin. I am free to post anything on the social media .Whatever I post depends on my mood and what I would love to share with my fans at that point in time. Anyone who feels offended should unfollow me. I don’t read the negative comments because it doesn’t matter to me.
Competition
I am a distinct artiste who does not feel threatened by any other female artiste. I believe in my talent and my capabilities. I don’t see competition; all I see are opportunities to excel in my craft and in the Nigerian music industry. I don’t jump on the bandwagon blindly; rather I set standards for others to follow. I admire all the talented Nigerian artistes who stand out.
Achievements
My performance at the ‘Headies’ 2014 earned me a standing ovation. My track KuchiKuchi was featured on American music artiste, Gucci Mane’s 2013 March mix tape. The mix tape also featured top American artistes like Lil Wayne, 2Chains, Future and Waka Flocka
Relationship
I am in a relationship with my music so I do not have time for a lover at the moment. My man needs to understand me perfectly and appreciate my personality first as an artiste and then, as Cynthia Morgan.
Prized possessions
I think my height and my talent are the greatest assets I possess. I am unique in several ways.
Fashion
I am crazy about colognes and wrist watches. The most expensive item in my wardrobe is a wristwatch which cost me N12m.

Election 2015: Niger Governor, Aliyu, says Jonathan was the cause of PDP’s Downfall

The Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu, on Friday attributed the defeat of his party, Peoples Democratic Party, in the presidential election and governorship elections in some state to President Goodluck Jonathan’s refusal to honour a single term pact allegedly reached by its leaders. The governor spoke in Minna at a convocation lecture of the Federal University of Technology where he was the guest of honour.
The lecture was titled, The Role of Law in the Enhancement of Socio-Economic Growth of the Nation.
Mr. Aliyu, who also lost the May 28 senatorial election to represent Niger East Senatorial District, said he and some of the party’s leaders saw the defeat coming.
“Many of us saw it coming,” he said. “When I reminded us (that President Goodluck Jonathan had agreed to run for one term), they nearly crucified me. When I led the G7 (group of seven aggrieved PDP governors), they did not do what we wanted them to do until five members left and they did what we asked them to do.”
While facing Mr. Jonathan’s political adviser, Rufai Alkali, who also attended the ceremony, Mr. Aliyu recounted how he was nearly crucified two years ago when he spoke about the one-term agreement on a programme on Liberty Radio, Kaduna.
“I recall also that when APC (All Progressives Congress) came on board (emerged as a political party), I was the first person to say I was very happy now, we have a strong party to put PDP on its toes and many people were asking, ‘Are you really a member?’” Mr. Aliyu recounted.
“Up until the last elections, the allegation against me had always been that I was a supporter of APC; and now, you have seen the results.”
The governor also said there could be other reasons for PDP’s poor outing during the polls, among which was the desire by Nigerians to have a change.
“Nigerians wanted a change and Nigerians got the change,” Mr. Alkali said. “You will have many reasons. One, PDP has been around for 16 years and there is no way you will be around for 16 years and you will not make mistakes.
“So, there are many reasons that will be put together and we will be able to understand and guide people.”
Mr. Aliyu also said corruption does not only mean stealing of money but also engaging in malpractices.
He asked Nigerians to refrain from what could destroy the country’s economy.

xenophobic attacks in South Africa affected 50 Nigerian

The Nigerian Union in South Africa has said it has concluded arrangements to resettle 50 Nigerians affected by the ongoing xenophobic attacks.
The President of the union, Ikechukwu Anyene, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on phone from Pretoria, South Africa, on Saturday.
Mr. Anyene said the Nigerians were displaced at Jeppes Town, near Johannesburg.
“We met about 300 Nigerians in Jeppes town, near Johannesburg, who fled for their safety and about 50 of them do not have any place to stay.
“We are making arrangements with the Nigerian mission in South Africa to get them a place to stay for their safety.
“The Nigerian union has also presented relief materials to those affected by the attacks and we are in touch with various branch chapters of the union in the provinces on their safety and security,’’ he said.
According to him, Nigerian shops and businesses in Durban and Johannesburg have been looted and some burnt.
He said that two shops belonging to Nigerians in Durban were looted and they lost goods worth 400,000 Rand.
“In Jeppes Town, near Johannesburg, five shops were looted and one burnt while the estimated loss is put at One million Rand.
“The incidents have been reported to the police and we are still taking stock of attacks on Nigerians,’’ he said.
Mr. Anyene reiterated the union’s call to the Federal Government to put more pressure on the South African government to halt the attacks.
The Nigerian foreign minister had however claimed on Thursday that Nigerians had so far not been attacked, saying it would only evacuate Nigerians only if the situation gets worse.
“With the discussions I have been having with Nigeria’s Head of Mission in Pretoria, no Nigerian has so far been affected,” the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aminu Wali said Thursday in Abuja.
”They informed me that they have called the Nigerian community and addressed them and told them to close their shops, stay home and keep out of trouble and obey the laws of South Africa.
“They have also confirmed that the South African authority has moved in to take actions that would forestall any further disturbance in South Africa,” Mr. Wali said.
Mr. Wali said it will move to evacuate Nigerian citizens if the xenophobic attacks get worse.
“If it gets worse it is the duty of our country to make sure our people are brought back, and we are taking that duty serious.
”We are not prepared to allow any of our nationals to be subjected to such inhuman treatment.
“We are monitoring the situation and will now take action according to the situation that develops,” he said.
Xenophobia in South Africa dates back to 1994 and are mainly targeted at citizens of other African Countries.
In May 2008 a series of xenophobic attack left 62 people dead.
In the current attack, at least five people have been killed and hundreds forced to flee their homes in one of South Africa’s worst outbreaks of xenophobic violence in years.

Former Nigeria defender Isaac Semitoje has said coach Stephen Keshi is desperate to land Super Eagles job, while questioning the Nigeria Federation’s decision to retain him after his failed attempt to qualify the country for Equatorial Guinea 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
The much anticipated unveiling of the coach of the senior national team gaffer  by the NFF on Friday was not done leaving many to question the future of the Nigeria job.
Keshi was expected to sign a new contract to handle the team that he led to Africa Cup of Nations victory in 2013 at the Glass House after months of negotiations.

Klopp: I COULD REST FOR A YEAR

Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp admits he could well sit out of management for a year when he leaves the club at the end of the season.
The 47-year-old revealed this week that he has agreed to step down at the end of the current campaign after seven years in which he led the club to two Bundesliga titles and a Champions League final.
Klopp insisted that he has no intention to take a sabbatical when he announced his departure, but after Dortmund’s 3-0 home win over Paderborn on Saturday, he conceded that he could well face a spell out of the game.

The ancient Ikale community in Irele local government area of Ondo state has been hit by a mysterious disease, killing at least 14 people.

MANCHESTER UNITED FACED DEFENSIVE CRISIS BEFORE CHELSEA CLASH

MANCHESTER UNITED are facing a defensive crisis for Saturday's trip to Chelsea, with Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind and Michael Carrick all missing through injury.

Jonny Evans is still suspended for the crunch clash at Stamford Bridge meaning Chris Smalling and youngster Paddy McNair are the only recognisable first-team centre-backs available to Louis van Gaal.

Fit again Luke Shaw is likely to replace Blind at left-back while Van Gaal has admitted he could utilise Wayne Rooney in a holding midfield role as he shuffles the pack to cope with the absence of Carrick.

"It is the worst scenario," Van Gaal told MUTV. "Marcos and Phil can both play left central defender, and Jonny Evans is also suspended so I do not have many choices.

"Daley Blind and Michael Carrick could playing holding midfield player and I do not have another option. It is a puzzle."

He added: "Shaw I think is training for a lot of weeks already so he can play. Van Persie is another story - this is the first week he has trained with us, with the first team, but maybe we have to think about him."

The England midfielder has been one of the club's stand out performers in the 2014-15 campaign although was forced off towards the end of United's derby win over Manchester City with a calf injury.

Van Gaal insists the disruption his planning for the meeting with Jose Mourinho's league leaders are "all part of life in football" but will come as a bitter blow as the Red Devils looked to cut the gap at the top.

"They are all from the game against City," the manager added. "Blind played on because he always wants to, but the tackle from Kompany was the reason. Jones injured himself in the second half.

"Rojo, he was complaining [of a knock] after the match, and Carrick was also off. We had a big hope that Blind and Jones could reach this game but they can't."

'I'm unhappy with Toure's performances,' admits Pellegrini

Manuel Pellegrini admits he has been unhappy with Yaya Toure’s performances for Manchester City this season.

The 31-year-old has been criticised for his inconsistent displays for the Premier League champions and came under fire after a subdued outing in City’s 4-2 defeat to Manchester United last Sunday.

The loss at Old Trafford has left City 12 points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea but Pellegrini insists Toure remains an important part of the team.

Arteta: Arsenal contract talks will take five minutes

Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta believes negotiations with the club over a new contract will take just "five minutes".

The Spaniard, currently sidelined with an ankle injury, is out of contract at the end of the season, and Arsene Wenger revealed on Thursday that he is keen to extend the 33-year-old's current deal by at least another 12 months.

Arteta is currently focused on returning to full fitness, but he claims he will commit to a new contract quickly when he opens talks with the club later this year.

"My only aim is to get back fit and try to perform on the pitch," he told reporters.
