Tiwa Savage is pregnant

She announced the news at ikoyi boat club today.

Rodgers:Liverpool don't need many new players

Brendan Rodgers does not expect there to be much transfer activity at Liverpool when the window opens for business on Saturday. After agonisingly losing out on the Premier League title by just two points last season, the Reds have found the going much tougher in the 2014-15 campaign. With half of the season gone, Rodgers' side have already lost seven matches and they will start 2015 against Leicester City on Thursday in eighth place - some 18 points adrift of leaders Chelsea. The Anfield outfit were expected to try and bolster their squad in the transfer window, with a goalkeeper thought to be a top priority due to question marks over the quality and form of Simon Mignolet and Brad Jones. However, Rodgers does not believe that January is the right time to alter his team and stated he will only delve into the market if the right calibre of player becomes available. "There won't be much if any transfer activity from us during the transfer window," the Northern Irishman on Wednesday. "I don't think January is a good time to spend. I'm happy with how the group is progressing after a tough start to the season. "If there's something that can improve us, I'll take that to the owners."

Tevez:I won't renew with Juventus

Carlos Tevez has revealed he has no plans to extend his current contract with Juventus. The Argentine has been in fine form since his move to the Serie A champions and is currently their top scorer in the league. However, Tevez has no desire to continue his legacy in Turin past his current deal. “I want to respect my contract until 2016,” he told reporters at Buenos Aires airport, “That's my plan. “I don't want to extend, that's not how I feel at the moment.” When asked if he would consider a return to boyhood club Boca Juniors, the 30-year-old urged calmness on any decisions regarding his future. “It's too hard to say right now,” he said, “I'm playing at a high level so it's important to be calm and enjoy being in the moment. “Constant speculation would drive me crazy.”

A New Year message to Nigeria’s youth from Muhammadu Buhari

..and here's Gen. Buhari's New Year message to Nigerian youths... As we welcome the year 2015, I have shared a message to Nigerians in general, but I find it crucial to send another message directly to Nigeria’s youth, who are the major stakeholders of this enterprise. The year 2014 was a challenging one for most citizens of our dear country. We remember our compatriots who were brutishly killed or maimed by evil terrorists in 2014. I remember with a still broken heart that 219 of our children from Chibok are yet missing, let down by a country that should protect them. I remember that, even as I speak, some of our towns and villages are yet under the occupation of Boko Haram. Yes, it is enough for you to despair. It is enough for you to wonder if your country cares about you and can protect you. But do not despair. 2015 has arrived at a time of great discomfort; but the beauty of the New Year is that we can look forward with renewed hope and the knowledge that things can and will change. In Nigeria’s case, we can truly look forward to the change that the elections can, and will, bring. Our country will be secure again. Our country will prosper again. I have faith that 2015 is the year we shall begin to write a new story - a story of our youth creating jobs and expanding the frontiers of innovation and creativity everywhere from Mavin Records to the Co-Creation Hub; a story of genuine investment in our children and students be they in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka or in the Delta State University, Abraka; a country that finally makes a permanent shift from our debilitating dependence on the free-falling price of crude oil. I have unshakeable faith that 2015 will be the year of change. Now some of you have asked me: what exactly does ‘change’ mean? I have taken time to explain this at different opportunities, but on this special day, let me remind you in five short statements. Change means: 1. A country that you can be proud of at anytime and anywhere: where corruption is tackled, where your leaders are disciplined and lead with vision and clarity; where the stories that emerge to the world from us are full of hope and progress. 2. A Nigeria in which neither yourselves, nor your parents, families or friends will have to fear for your safety, or for theirs. 3. A Nigeria where citizens get the basics that any country should provide: infrastructure that works, healthcare that is affordable, even free; respect for the environment and sustainable development, education that is competitive and outcome-oriented in a knowledge-economy. 4. A country that provides jobs for its young people, reducing unemployment to the lowest of single digits and providing safety nets so that no one is left behind. 5. A Nigeria where entrepreneurship thrives, enterprise flourishes and the government gets out of your way so that you can create value, build the economy and aggressively expand wealth. Are these things truly possible? Of course. That is the essence and outcome of leadership, and that is what my party and I promise you as we get into 2015. My dear friends, this New Year, more than ever before, I am hopeful about Nigeria. Yes, you are disappointed and you are angry, as you are entitled to, but you must never give in to the temptation to feel so weighed down by those who have failed you that you lose your hope and your energy and your passion to see change. You must never give up on Nigeria. Together, we can build a nation that is secure, prosperous and gives everyone a fair chance. This is the promise that 2015 holds. That is the promise that change will bring. That is the promise that I bring to you. Once again, I wish everyone a happy and prosperous New Year. Thank you and God bless Nigeria.

Taiye Taiwo dreams super eagles recall

Bursaspor defender Taye Taiwo has said that he
would be glad to get a recall to play for the Super
Eagles.
The 29-year-old has 53 caps for the country but
has been shut out of the national team since
coach Stephen Keshi took over as coach.
Since then, Elderson Echiejile and recently Juwon
Oshaniwa have held sway in the left back position
of the national team.
Taiwo who has never hidden his passion to play
for the Eagles feels his playing regularly in the
Turkish top flight is a testimony that he is still
active and won’t mind getting an invite to
represent Nigeria.
"I’m still very much in active football. At my club
I play regularly and my manager keeps wondering
why I’ve been shut out of the Nigeria national
team,” Taiwo told Goal.
"I am a Nigerian and if given the opportunity to
do so, I will definitely do that with open arms.
Why not? I will surely come.
"This is my country and I will never turn down any
invitation because that has always been my
priority."
Known for his prowess at free kicks due to his
powerful left foot, the defender feels Nigeria is
missing a lot of attributes.
"Most times, when we lose set pieces during
international games, I feel very bad because I
would have scored if I was there,” he said.
The 2006 Caf Young Player of the Year also
dismissed claims that he had issues with Keshi
which could have been responsible for his
national team blackout.
"At Dynamo Kiev, I called to congratulate him on
his appointment and expressed my willingness to
be a part of his team, he assured me all would be
well but till date, he never deemed it fit to send
me an invite to the national team,” he continued.
"He would not pick my calls and I kept wondering
what was wrong. Anyway, I still respect him and I
can tell you that I don’t have any issues with him,
his assistants and those at the Nigeria Football
Federation."
On the inability of the reigning African champions
to make it to Equatorial Guinea 2015, the former
Olympique Marseille defender said it was a
tragedy for the country despite tipping them to
successfully defend their crown following their
exploits at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
"It is a big disaster that the Super Eagles failed to
make the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
"After our performance at the World Cup, I had
boasted to my African teammates that Nigeria
would successfully defend the title but
unfortunately, we missed out. It’s a big shame,"
he concluded.

Two days after an AirAsia airliner carrying 163

153 passengers overshot the runway at an
airport in the Philippines today December 30th,
forcing passengers to disembark the aircraft on
emergency slides.
The incident occurred at Kalibo Airport in Aklan
province in Philippines according to a journalist
Jet Damazo-Santos who was on board and
shared the photo above on Twitter. "Engine was

There have been no word from AirAsia officials
about this latest incident but according to Jet,
no passenger was injured in this latest mishap.

Torres' Atletico return is great for world football - Cerezo

Fernando Torres' return to Atletico Madrid is not only great for the club, but for the rest of world football too, according to president Enrique Cerezo.

The Spanish champions announced on Monday that the striker has rejoined the club in a loan deal from AC Milan until the end of next season, with Alessio Cerci going in the other direction.

The former Chelsea and Liverpool striker has spoken of his delight at returning "home" to the club at which he started his career and Cerezo is ready to welcome the 30-year-old back with open arms.

"The deal is done. He will be unveiled on Sunday 4th," Cerezo told radio station RNE. "We want the stadium to be packed with Atletico fans, especially children, for the occasion.

"Torres coming back is great news for the football world and Atletico Madrid."

The Atleti chief says Torres will arrive in the Spanish capital on Tuesday or Wednesday to complete his medical, but admitted the negotiations were not easy, before insisting that Mario Mandzukic will not leave the club as a result of the signing.

"It has not been plain sailing. The coaching staff want him, the club wants him, the fans want him and now he is ours", he added.

"But Mandzukic won't leave - he is an important player."

Meanwhile, club CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin, speaking at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai, said the club are thrilled with the acquisition for what Torres can offer on the pitch.

"We are very happy with this decision," he said. "In 2007, the economic crisis in Spain began and Fernando and ourselves decided to go our separate ways, to grow on our own, and that’s what we did.

"He won, amongst other things, a World Cup, two European Championships and the Champions League, while we won four international titles and three in Spain, including La Liga.

"Now, in 2014, we meet again. We both did well individually and history brings us together once more."

Mancini confirms Podolski intrest

Roberto Mancini has admitted Inter are interested in signing Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski.

The Germany attacker has been heavily linked to a move away from the Emirates Stadium, having made just seven Premier League appearances this term.

Reports have circulated in Italy that the Nerazzurri are interested in the former Bayern Munich player and Mancini confirmed his side are looking at him after being asked about his transfer targets.

"Podolski is a good player," the coach told Sport Mediaset.

"He is part of a list of players that we are following, so we will see what will come of it."

The 50-year-old also said his side have an interest in signing former Real Madrid player Lassana Diarra, who is currently locked in a legal battle with Lokomotiv Moscow in a bid to be declared a free agent.

"He is very good, but he has an ongoing dispute and we have to see how it is solved," said Mancini.

Alessio Cerci looks set to join Inter's fierce rivals AC Milan from Atletico Madrid as part of an exchange that will see Fernando Torres go the other way.

Cerci was also a player being tracked by Inter but Mancini says he is not angry with the former Torino star.

The coach added: "I am not angry with Cerci. We had never started any negotiations, he was just one of many we were following."

Ancelotti named top coach of the year

Real madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has been named as the best coach of 2014 at the Globe Soccer Awards, held in Dubai.

In his first year at the Santiago Bernabeu the Italian guided the Spanish side to an elusive 10th European Cup with a 4-1 final defeat of city rivals Atletico in Lisbon.

It marked the continuation of the Italian's glittering coaching career, which has also seen him win domestic league titles in Italy (AC Milan), England (Chelsea) and France (Paris Saint-Germain).

Ancelotti saw off competition for the award from Joachim Low, who led Germany to World Cup glory in the summer, Pep Guardiola, whose Bayern Munich side claimed a Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double in his first year in Germany and Antonio Conte, for guiding Juventus to a third successive Scudetto before taking charge of Italy during the summer.

Ancelotti was in attendance at The Palm Hotel, and said of the award: "Life is easy because we have many great players and wonderful staff which makes it a lot easier to coach Real Madrid than other clubs."

The win represented a night of success for Real Madrid, with Cristiano Ronaldo collecting the Player of the Year award. Madrid face AC Milan in a friendly on December 30.

West Brom sack Alan Irvine

West Brom have confirmed Alan Irvine has been sacked as the club's manager.

The 56-year-old leaves the Hawthorns after just six months in charge with the club currently 16th in the Premier League, one point clear of the relegation zone.

Irvine was able to guide West Brom to four wins in the Premier League but leaves the club following a run of three straight defeats.

West Brom have also announced that assistant head coach Rob Kelly, along with Keith Downing, will take charge of the team for Thursday's fixture against West Ham and expect to name Irvine's permanent successor by the weekend.

"We appointed Alan in the summer convinced that we had taken on one of the foremost coaches in the UK and nothing that has happened since then has altered our view,” said West Brom’s technical director Terry Burton.

"The individual progress of our players such as Craig Dawson and Saido Berahino are testament to that.

"But sadly that simply has not translated into results and they remain the ultimate currency of Alan’s position.

"Securing a sixth season in the Premier League is the over-riding target and sometimes unpleasant decisions have to be taken to serve that imperative.

"Alan has impressed everyone with his manner, dedication and diligence but he knows that results have simply not been good enough.

"We place on record our gratitude for his efforts and hold nothing but good wishes for his future endeavours. This was a decision taken with regret but sadly driven by necessity."

Ronaldo:Hopefully Ballon d 'Or is next

Cristiano Ronaldo hopes picking up Best Player of the Year at the Globe Soccer Awards will lead to him winning the Ballon d'Or in January.
Ronaldo has enjoyed arguably the greatest year of his career, breaking the record for the number of goals in a single Champions League season as he led Real Madrid to their 10th European title, while maintaining his better than a goal-per-game ratio across five prolific years in Spain.

Ronaldo is hotly tipped to follow up his latest accolade by beating Lionel Messi and Manuel Neuer to the Fifa Ballon d’Or to win it for the second year in a row, and third time overall.

The Portuguese attacker is hoping that his success at the awards ceremony in Dubai will be replicated in Zurich when the winner is announced on January 12.

He said: "I hope that it can be a good signal but I’m not worried about that. The people who vote know what they have to do.

"I just feel happy it’s one more trophy for my dedication and hard work. I want to say thank you to the people at Real Madrid, - the players, the coach - we had a fantastic season, we won four trophies and we are one of the best teams in the world.

“La Decima was a special moment as Real Madrid have looked forward to winning it.

"To win this award is one of the great pleasures, I am very proud."

Former Sporting Lisbon and Manchester United star Ronaldo is adamant there is no added pressure on his shoulders despite his standing in the game.

“No, no pressure,” he added. “I don’t have pressure because things come naturally to me. I don’t have to show anything to anyone. I am happy, I do what I like, to play football, to score goals, to make assists and help show we [Real Madrid] are one of the best teams in the world.”

The Globe Soccer Awards, an event that has been streamed live on Goal, has a number of other categories promoting the very best football has had to offer across a hugely successful year.

The Eagles were failure-Kanu

Nigeria legend Nwankwo Kanu has scored the country’s football low in the outgoing year following the senior men’s team’s failure to qualify for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The former Super Eagles captain said that there is much work to be done in 2015 to bring back the faded glory of the three-time African champions.

After winning their third title in South Africa in 2013, Nigeria reached the second round at the World Cup in Brazil but failed to qualify to defend their African crown in Equatorial Guinea.

“It is quite clear and we don’t need to shy away from the fact that Nigerian football did not fare well in the outgoing year,” Kanu told Goal.

“This is as a result of the Super Eagles’ failure to qualify for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations holding in Equatorial Guinea.

“So if we are not featuring among the best countries in Africa that would participate in the 2015 Afcon, it simply means that something [went] wrong with our football this year.

“We didn’t do well in the game this year, it’s just the honest truth. There is nothing good to write home about as regards the senior national team of Nigeria.

“Mind you, Fifa rates our performance based on the Super Eagles not the age grade or women national teams’ performances.

“It has been a disappointing year for Nigerian football. But by God’s grace, 2015 would be a new beginning for us.

“I sincerely pray that everybody involved in the entire crisis and problems that bedeviled Nigerian football in the year 2014 will sit back and look at themselves and have a rethink, have a change of mind and start working in earnest for the growth and good of the game in the country,” Kanu said.

Chris Rock now dating co-star Rosario Dawson?

Comedian Chris Rock announced yesterday that he and his wife of over 18 years Malaak Rock are divorcing and looks like he made the announcement so he could officially go public with his new love interest, his Top 5 co-star, Rosario Dawson. That is if you believe MediaTakeOut.
"They didn't want to announce it while their movie Top 5 was still being released - cause they didn't want people thinking that Rosario is some type of homewrecker. She's not, Chris hasn't been with his wife in about two years" a source told MTO
MTO's snitch continued, "They got together while making Top 5 . . but kept it quiet. Now I think Chris filed the papers on Malaak because he wants to go public with it."

Buhari Fails To Submit Academic Qualifications To INEC

ABUJA —Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Muhammadu Buhari, did not present his academic qualifications to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, even as he prepares for the 2015 presidential contest.

Unlike his Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, counterpart, President Goodluck Jonathan, whose academic certificates were conspicously displayed by the commission upon presentation, Buhari’s credentials were visibly without trace at the commission’s office at Area 10, Abuja.

The former Head of State, explained in an affidavit he deposed, which he submitted to the commission that all his academic credentials were with the Secretary, Military Board.

The affidavit deposed at the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court, Abuja and dated November 24,2014, was stamped and received at INEC headquarters on December 18, 2014.

In the affidavit, Buhari said: “All my academic qualifications (documents) as filled in my presidential form, President APC/001/2015, are currently with the Secretary Military Boards as at the time of this affidavit.”

He added: “The affidavit is made in good faith and for record purpose.”
